Possible Upset: Jim Cameron, Avatar
Actor: Jeff Bridges, Crazy Heart

Possible Upset: Forget it. It's Mo'Nique or nobody
Animated Feature: UP!
Possible Upset: Forget it. Some people think that UP! was the best film of the year, period.
Cinematography: Too close to call. Could be one of three. The look of Inglourious Basterds, the tough job of filming The Hurt Locker and the challenges of technology faced by Avatar. In the end we think Avatar has too many computers to count and Hurt Locker is pretty straight forward with the editing being the real star. So, that leaves Inglourious Basterds. It's a 'Work of Art'. And that's the great Robert Richardson, by the way.
Writing:
Original Screenplay: The Hurt Locker
Possible Upset: Actually, any of them.
Adapted Screenplay: Precious
Possible Upset: Up in the Air

Orson Welles 1960 Interview
i
Interviewed in Paris in 1960, before he was reduced to talkshow visits, commercials and host or guest appearances on television, a medium for entertainment, as you will see, that he had little regard for. In these interviews he is honest, lucid, comfortable, intelligent, insightful, ready, it seems, to answer any question, and with an abundance of good humor. It is, simply, Orson at his best. He disavows his genius label, the importance of Art and even some of his contemporary counterparts within the directing profession. He also offers amazing insight about actors forming their own production companies as well as where television falls short as a medium for entertainment. Althugh he fails to take into account the invention of the "Sit-com": TV's greatest achievement in terms of entertainment.
Thank God for the creation of YouTube so that wonderful interviews, like this one, can be re-discovered. As I have written in the past, I beleive that YouTube will be the single most significant development in Communication, since the invention of the television. It's impact may surpass that of the Web, itself - although, of course, the web is still inquired for as the medium fo distribution for YouTube.
